Printers
Thermal Transfer printing is achieved through the use of a ribbon composed of a wax or resin called “Ribbon”. The printer has a printhead which heats up and transfers the required print, with a given resolution, onto the material.
Thermal transfer printers can print on different surfaces (paper labels, fabric, labels on polypropylene plastic film, polyester, vinyl, polyamides, or acrylates that withstand very high temperatures (approx. 300ºC).
Unlike direct thermal printing, which applies heat directly from the printhead to the label surface, thermal transfer with ribbon can be much more durable depending on the quality of the ribbon used, as well as the parameters.
